SMART technology built into every room at Prince Waikiki (and future rooms under renovation at the Prince-owned Mauna Kea Resort) allows smart technology to go beyond the control panels installed in every room. See some of the ways that Prince is using the smartphone as the ultimate tool for guests to get the most out of their stay at Prince hotels and resorts. The pilot program is scheduled for a Fall 2018 rollout with a full implementation by 2020.

Check-in is enabled by logging in with your Prince Preferred membership. Stays; past, present, and future are queued up on virtual cards. The user selects the present stay and is guided through the check-in process through reviewing personal information, tender, room selection (and upgrade, if desired, in dollars or points), to final verification of stay details. The app then prepares the users' dashboard, which the app will load to by default until the user checks out.

Once the user has checked in and verified their preferences, the dashboard becomes the landing page. It gives the guest full access to everything about their stay, from requesting service on their room, activating do not disturb, SMART Room Remote, messages, valet, and more. But it gets even better. Passport uses location services and WiFi to determine if the user is on the property. When out and about, Passport becomes your direct line to the hotel, changing context-sensitive functions such as getting directions back to the hotel and calling the hotel.
Digital control of rooms has been around for a few years now and features like bedside control panels have become an expectation by the most discerning travelers. Passport takes it one step further with room controls embedded directly in the app. The example below shows controls for the most complex room, an Ocean Front Suite. Pairing is accomplished through two-factor authentication to ensure no one else is able to gain control of your room. In addition to verifying the user's account, a 6-digit code is required to complete pairing.

In-app messaging allows guests to communicate directly with staff including Guest Services and the Concierge on duty. Want to make a dinner reservation? Message the Concierge. Need an extra toiletry kit? Message Guest Services.
Evening Hours is a feature enabled by default (but can be disabled) in which the entire interface adopts a darker and warmer color scheme for increased ease of use during the evening hours. Enabled at five o'clock local time, the feature changes the dashboard wallpaper and the colors and temperature of nearly every button and switch to suit reduced ambient light.
Passport includes native support for multiple languages. Going beyond a basic online translation, every message has been proofread by a native speaker to ensure the best user experience for all.
Passport can issue notifications to your lock screen if desired. Choose which notifications you receive in Settings, then sit back and relax.
Passport was designed with emergencies in mind. In an emergency situation (such as this simulated lockdown), the app will notify the user (if enabled), a tile is placed on the dashboard, and a live-feed is established to ensure that users are always up to date on the latest.
